Welcome to Camp Gan Shalom!

We are a fun place for Jewish kids from all over the greater San Gabriel and Pomona Valleys to come together in play, laughter, and learning. Our unique program combines the fun of traditional camp activities with immersion in Jewish themes and culture to help campers forge lasting friendships and memories.

Our in-person program meets five days per week for a total of eight one-week sessions: five in Pasadena and three in Pomona. Last year, we pivoted to offering four weeks of digital camp, we named Gan Shalom @ Home, including a personalized camp supply bucket delivered to each family. It was such a wonderful experience that we have decided to provide it concurrently this year with our in-person camp programs. This way, we can meet the needs and preferences of as many of our community members as possible.

Kehillah (K-5th)

Kehilla is our in-person camp program for children entering Kindergarten through 5th grade.

In Hebrew, kehilla means “community.”  This program focuses on building a robust Jewish community through old-fashioned camp fun in a healthy and safe environment. With traditional camp activities like competitive sports, arts and crafts, and cooking, campers spend their summer having fun with other Jewish kids and building connections to last a lifetime. Each day is packed full of activities that campers can choose based upon their interests. We will also take weekly field trips (depending upon public health regulations and guidelines in effect) to places like water parks, beaches, and state parks, and even experience special Friday theme days!

Manheegim (6th-8th)

The Manheegim (leaders) program offers older campers a unique and exciting opportunity to develop as young leaders. Each day, except for Friday, participants go on a field trip to a new location, event, or program (depending upon public health regulations and guidelines in effect). Campers practice exercising leadership by choosing how to engage with these experiences and with each other. Additional activities include participating in games, doing team-building exercises, and creating and implementing programming for our younger campers on Fridays.

Gan Shalom @ Home

Open to campers entering Kindergarten through 5th grade.

Gan Shalom @ Home is a multimedia experiential program that provides children with a superior online day camp experience. While remaining safely at home, children enjoy playing, learning, and interacting in a warm Jewish environment that strengthens their Jewish identities and bolsters their social, physical, and intellectual development. We help campers develop confidence, pride, cooperation, and respect for themselves and others. Our goal is to ensure that our campers’ favorite aspects of the in-person Camp Gan Shalom experience, including crafts, games, songs, field trips (now virtual), and weekly Shabbat services, continue to be as meaningful and fun as ever. Our Zoom programming will be between 1 ½ - 2 hours every weekday, with optional themed at-home activities to do throughout the week.
